Bookmarks

Bookmarks are special objects with a unique id that you can insert to any part of a help topic and then create links to them. When the user clicks on such a link, the viewer will open the linked topic and automatically scroll to the bookmark location.

 

Insert a Bookmark to a Topic


1.In the word processor, put the cursor where you want to insert a bookmark.

2.On the Insert tab, in the Links group, click Bookmark.

3.Enter a name for the new bookmark.

4.Click OK.

 

Remark: A bookmark name can include any characters except spaces. You can use the "_" character instead of spaces.

 

Link to a Bookmark from a Hyperlink


1.On the Insert tab, in the Links group, click Hyperlink.

2.Enter text for the new hyperlink.

3.In the Topic Context box, set the topic that you want the hyperlink to follow.

4.In the Bookmark drop-down list, select the bookmark that you want. The Bookmark list is automatically updated as you change the "Topic Context" value.

5.Click OK.

 

Link to a Bookmark from Table of Contents


1.On the Project menu, in the Topics & Templates group, click Add.

2.In the left sidebar, select Link to Topic as the item type.

3.In the Topic Context box, set the topic that you want the TOC item to follow.

4.In the Bookmark drop-down list, select the bookmark that you want. The Bookmark list is automatically updated as you change the "Topic Context" value.

5.Click OK.

 

Link to a Bookmark from a Keyword


1.On the Keywords pane, select the keyword for which you want to set a bookmark.

2.On the Project tab, in the Keywords group, click Properties.

3.In the Keyword Properties dialog, in the Jump to Bookmark column, select the bookmark (contained within the associated topic) that you need.

4.Click OK.
