However, the easiest way to customize the header is to display a special topic with your logo in the header area. In this case, you will be able to design and edit a customized header directly in the HelpSmith's topic editor (just like a regular topic), and also you will not have to write any code.

Below you can find step-by-step instructions that will help you create a custom header with your company logo.

Step 1: Create a new topic

1. On the Project tab, in the Topics & Templates group, click Add.
2. In the New Item dialog, specify the Title (for example: Web Help Header), and Context value (for example: 1000) for the new topic.
3. Check the Hidden option, so the topic will not be displayed in the Table of Contents in the compiled help system.
4. Click OK.

Step 2: Edit Web Help's header settings

1. On the Project tab, in the Project group, click Project Options.
2. In the Project Options dialog, in the left sidebar, select the Web Help|Layout section.
3. On the Header tab, in the Source box, select Help Topic.
4. In the Topic Context box, specify the topic that you want to display.
5. In the Height box, specify the height value of the custom header.
6. Click OK.
