If we use HelpSmith Terminal Server Edition with floating licenses, will it be possible to edit the same help project by multiple users?
Using the HelpSmith Terminal Server edition
While the HelpSmith Terminal Server edition (floating licenses) allows team members to access HelpSmith from a terminal server like Citrix, it does not allow you to edit and save the same help project file by multiple users at the same time.
For more details on using and installing floating licenses, you can visit this topic.
How to edit a help project by multiple users?
To work on the same help project by multiple users, you can use HelpSmith with a version control system (VCS) like GitHub, Git, Subversion (SVN), etc.
In this case, you should save your help project (File|Save As) to the open XML-based .HSMP format which is compatible for usage with a VCS.
Please note that the .HSMP format is available in HelpSmith Ultimate (per seat licenses) and in HelpSmith Terminal Server (floating licenses) editions.
Using HelpSmith with GitHub
On our website, you can find an article that explains how you can use HelpSmith with GitHub, and also how to avoid potential conflicts while working on a help project with a VCS by a team of technical writers.
