On the "Start Page" in HelpSmith, you will find sample help projects, which you can edit and compile to different output formats for evaluation purposes.

Remark: You can also access the sample help projects by clicking: File|Help|Sample Projects.

I have downloaded the trial as you suggested. BTW, HelpSmith looks like a nice solution for our use.

Trial period is NOT limited

Currently, HelpSmith trial version does not limit the period during which you can use it for evaluation purposes.

The limitations of the trial version are as follows:

• It is not possible to save a help project that contains more than 5 topics.
• An "unregistered notice" is added to each topic in generated documentation.
• A watermark is added to all images in a compiled help file.

As to the other functionality, you can test it without any limitations.
