How to open the last edited project automatically

I would like the project that was last edited to be automatically opened when the HelpSmith starts. This way, the user can quickly continue working from the same point.

Does HelpSmith have an option to open the last edited project file?

How to auto-open the last edited help project

Yes, HelpSmith includes the option to automatically open the last-edited project on the next launch of the program.

  1. Click the File tab, and then click Options.
  2. In the left side, select the General section.
  3. Enable the Open last project on start option.
  4. Click OK.

Opening the last-edited topic

When you open a help project file manually or when it is auto-opened on the program startup, in the Select what box (see screenshot above), you can also specify if the help authoring tool should display:

  • The default topic (which is defined in project options);
  • The last edited topic;
  • Project information section.

Thus, you can actually continue your work from where you left off.

I was looking for that option, but did not notice it in program settings. Now it works, thank you!
