How do I set the size of the image and annotation objects?

How do I set/control the size of the image, the size of the annotations (e.g. balloons) within the image, and the size of the annotations in the tables below the image?

When I change the size of the image in the topic editor, it seems like it also scales the size of balloons, control annotations, etc.

You can use the following recommendations to control the size of an image and the annotation objects:

1.) Do not scale images with annotations in the word processor

You should NOT scale images with annotations in the word processor. In this case, it scales the resulting (rendered) image including the annotations objects on it (control annotations, balloons, etc.).

In the word processor, you should reset the image to its original size:

  1. Double-click on the image.
  2. Click Reset.
  3. Then click OK.

(Alternatively, you can simply Ctrl+Double Click on the image).

Please note that when an image is not scaled in the word processor, you can see that the size of annotations (balloons) will be the same both in the image and in the annotation tables below the image.

2.) Scale the image (screenshot) in the Image Tool

If you need to scale the image only, but not the annotations, you can do so by using the "Change Image Size" button which is available at the bottom of the Image Tool window, as shown at:

https://www.helpsmith.com/webhelp/topics/image-tool-user-interface.htm

Thus, by using the "Change Image Size" button, you can change the size of your screenshot without changing the size of the annotations.

3.) Define the size of control annotations in Image Properties

To define the size of control annotations, and also font settings of the texts used by the control annotations, you can use the "Image Properties" button available on the toolbar in the Image Tool window.
